Dr. Santa Cruz received his M.D. degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina. His pathology residency and fellowship training was completed at Ohio State University, and at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr Santa Cruz was a staff pathologist and Associate Professor of Pathology at Barnes Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine from 1977 to 1986. From 1986 to 1996 he worked as a pathologist at the Department of Pathology at St. Johns Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. In 1996, Dr Santa Cruz and Dr Hurt began their current practice as Dermatopathologists at Cutaneous Pathology (WCP Pathology Laboratories) in St Louis, MO. About 36,000 skin biopsies are diagnosed every year in Cutaneous Pathology. Over three hundred medical students, residents and visiting fellows from USA, Europe and Latin America have trained through the years in Cutaneous Pathology. Dr. Santa Cruz holds membership in over 20 academic pathology societies. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Seminars in Diagnostic Pathology. In addition, he serves on the editorial boards of more than 15 pathology, dermatology and dermatopathology journals from around the world. He is board certified in Anatomical Pathology and Dermatopathology. He has published more than 100 original articles and chapters of classical textbooks on a broad spectrum of topics in dermatopathology including the description of 15 new conditions. He lectures extensively in USA, Latin America and Europe.
