History: This is a 4 year old Bosnian child who presented to St. Louis Children's Hospital. His history included a generalized erythroderma since birth, poor hair growth, and pruritus. Failure to thrive was also noted.

Physical Examination: Diffuse erythema with scaling was present over the entire surface of the body (Figs A,B). Scalp showed sparse, short, broken hairs with patches of alopecia.
